First off, I want to say thank you to my family, friends and clients. Every year I sit down to write this post, there’s just a rush of so many different emotions. Proud of where I am as an entrepreneur, inspired by the lessons I’ve learned, and wanting to reach for higher goals. Owning a company for 8 years is definitely an achievement, even though most of you know I like to downplay my positives.
This past year was a tough one for me. I went through a lot including coming out about my battles with depression and anxiety, and it surprised a lot of people. As an entrepreneur there’s just so much more stress and risks compared to the average person that we are more likely to take less care of ourselves. As important as a having a mentor is, a therapist is even more imperative. I feel guilty when I take time off, but am starting to realize the true value of a good work-life balance. It’s been a daily battle, but I’ve been putting in the extra work.
I want to truly thank my clients for this past year. Your patience and support has been absolutely amazing. To give me the opportunity to volunteer for 6 weeks in Houston to help victims of Hurricane Harvey, to the ones who support me every summer with BvB Dallas and donate to help us tackle Alzheimer’s disease. And especially the ones who were kind enough to give me the time when I needed to take a personal health break this past spring and get myself back on my feet. I appreciate all of you and I hope the quality of my work attests for that.
Thank you.
